Hydrogen Europe is seeking a dynamic and versatile professional to join our team as a Funding & Innovation Analyst specialising in European energy and climate funding & financing schemes, policy, and innovation.
As an integral member of the Funding & Innovation team, the officer will play a key role in facilitating access to funding for our members and contributing to the decarbonization goals in Europe. This position involves reporting directly to the Funding & Innovation Director, while collaborating in cross-team missions, engaging with policy officers, EU affairs specialists and working closely with the Market & Regulatory team.
- Contribute to developing and rolling out Hydrogen Europe’s positioning, and advocacy on:
- Current and future EU climate funding & financing schemes, including:
- the Innovation Fund, Horizon Europe, the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy and Transport, InvestEU,
- Market-support schemes based on Contract for Difference (CfD), Carbon contract for Difference (CCfD), Double Sided Auctions (DSAs) or Fixed Premium
- Carbon pricing policies, industrial policy for manufacturing in Europe, in the hydrogen economy.
- State Aid frameworks and individual Member States schemes
- Support the Funding & Finance team inter alia collecting relevant data, keeping them updated and elaborate databases on funding & finance items, including projects, funding schemes and other input to compose relevant innovation and funding scoreboards.
- Co-drafting position papers with the industry, and preparing responses to public consultations and Calls for Evidence.
- Advocate Hydrogen Europe positions towards European policy makers in coordination with the Funding & Innovation Director and the broader team
- Represent Hydrogen Europe externally, developing partnership with other like-minded stakeholders, participating and speaking at external events.
- Preparing analysis, non papers, briefings and documents for a variety of purposes/audiences.
Main responsibilities:

Requirements
- Master’s degree in an energy-related technical field or economics, preferably complemented by a demonstrated interest and experience in innovation dynamics
- Proficiency in data management, database development, and analysis tools, with strong professional experience using Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of additional data management, visualization, or analytical tools would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, the private sector, EU affairs, or EU institutions, with exposure to EU climate and energy policies and related funding opportunities.
- Exposure to clean hydrogen technologies and their applications across sectors such as energy, mobility, industry, and buildings would be highly valued.
- Proven experience in addressing strategic, innovation, funding, and regulatory issues within the energy and industrial sectors, combined with a strong interest in further developing expertise in the hydrogen ecosystem.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, including decision makers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Flexibility and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas as well as quickly adapting to new topic areas.
- Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team, even remotely.
- Strong time management skills and eye for detail.
