The main purpose of VCM Production Unit Manager's job is to organise and manage the available resources (± 50 employees) to ensure that the production of VCM meets the requirements of the business (on time, quality and volumes) and respects the safety and environmental rules.
Your accountabilities :

Ensure that the activities performed on site are compliant with SHE regulation, quality standards and company policies by organising coaching and training of the teams, applying control and implementing corrective actions when needed and insuring technical integrity of the assets with the support of the SHE department and to ensure that the regulation in terms of assets conditions and emissions are strictly respected.
Ensure that the production schedules are well planned and respected:Monitor raw materials availability and produced quantities in order to maintain the production schedule and reach the optimum of yields, coordinate the investigation of production incidents and the timely response to customer concerns, coordinate, with Maintenance, the maintenance planning and budget and ensure their alignment with the production scheduling. Make sure shut down (turnaround) are done safely every 4 years.
Builds system and tools to work in a continuous improvement context : Promotes innovation and continuous improvement within the entity, identifies the improvement leads and organize the resources to meet the goal (analysis of current situation, ideas generation, trials, financial resources for implementation).
Manage internal and external interactions and collaborate:
- Coordinate between all parties involved in the well-functioning of the production facility (other production units including logistic team, technical support units such as maintenance and SHE department,…);
- Sets a collaborative climate where all stakeholders can express freely and leads the decision process in case of divergent opinions (example: allocation of maintenance resources).

Manage the staff (50) :
- Define objectives, lead, motivate, coach, develop and evaluate the members of the own team.
- Ensure knowledge and expertise is maintained, developed and exchanged within the team.
- Participate in the selection, rotation and promotion of team members.
- Participate to the messages to communicate and bring up feedback from the organization.
Manage the unit :
- Define, propose, implement and follow up the departmental objectives, policies and procedures.
- Define team structure and the resources/critical skills needed.
- Report to management results and developments realized in the department
- Ensures that the OPEX budget is respected and that all CAPEX required for the sustenance and /improvement of the asset are sanctioned. Sets the priority in maintenance works according to the available budget and controls the operation and maintenance costs.
Required profile :
Level of education and experience : University degree - Master of Sciences in Engineering
Minimum 10 years’ experience in the chemical industry (as process, production or project engineer, in a process production unit)
Technical skills :

Equipment/unit operation: Knowledge of equipment of chemical industry, knowledge of instrumentation/control system, automatism, and knowledge of unit operations (reaction, distillation, extraction L/L, drying, …) and associated technologies/equipment

Process and technology: Knowledge of the technological processes and technologies used within one’s own domain of activity and closely related fields, and the ability to assess, implement and improve them (engineering processes)

Performance improvement: Ability to measure performance in own domain at three levels: Organization, Processes, and People. Ability to evaluate trends and propose improvements to the organization aligned with external world best practices. Ability to develop relevant action plans to achieve the expected targets.
