Within Leonardo Belgium, the EU CyberSec Regional Center serves as a center of cybersecurity expertise, delivering security services and solutions across complex and mission-critical environments.
You will join a team of cybersecurity professionals working on the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of security solutions supporting critical infrastructures and services.
This role is ideal for infrastructure engineers who enjoy securing and modernizing enterprise systems, with exposure to on-premises, cloud, and hybrid technologies while working on critical environments.

Location: Brussels (3 days on-site 2 days home-working)

As a Security System Engineer, you will drive the implementation, management, and evolution of secure systems and infrastructure, ensuring their stability, security, and operational readiness.
You will:

Administer, optimize, and maintain complex enterprise systems, virtualization platforms, and server infrastructures (On-Premises, Cloud, Hybrid)

Implement and manage high-availability solutions, backup strategies, and Disaster Recovery procedures to guarantee business continuity

Lead infrastructure hardening initiatives in compliance with stringent cybersecurity policies and standards

Automate routine system administration tasks and configuration management processes

Troubleshoot incidents, ensuring minimal downtime for critical infrastructure

Collaborate closely with DevOps and Security teams to support infrastructure modernization
Experience / Education / Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Engineering, Infrastructure Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, would be appreciated, but alternative educational paths with proven experience will be considered as well

Several years of professional experience in System engineering or Infrastructure Administration, with exposure to secure environments

Relevant certifications, in particular related to cybersecurity, are highly appreciated
Successful candidates would typically have

Strong expertise in Windows Server and/or Linux (RHEL, CentOS) administration

Robust experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware vSphere) and Active Directory / Entra ID

Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g. Ansible)

Proven experience in the management of security of systems and infrastructure

Structured, analytical mindset with a proactive approach to infrastructure stability and security

Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills for international collaboration
Nice to have

Experience with access management technologies is considered a plus

Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Previous exposure to EU Institutions, NATO, or other regulated environments.
