We are looking for a motivated, pro-active technology with a strong preference for mechanical engineering and the drive to improve compressor thermodynamics and optimize fluid dynamic behaviour. Join us in developing the highly technological oil-injected screw (OIS) compressor, the heart of our best-in-class compressor units converting mechanical energy to compressed air. The OIS is a widely used product in a large variety of applications, making it “the workhorse of the industry”.
You (and the project team) will define the development of products from the first prototype to serial production. You will be responsible for technology development and advancing specific knowledge domains. Product development, modelling (digital twin), simulations, testing, data processing and manufacturing are mainly done on site in Wilrijk. This means you will have hands-on experience with the products and will also work outside of a traditional desk environment.
The oil-injected screw product development team consists of project leaders, designers, technology engineers dedicated to the development on state-of-the-art compressor elements.
Atlas Copco has a strong focus on sustainability where you will have many learning possibilities and get the chance to work on making more efficient and sustainable products in a high impact industry sector.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Extensive research, simulations, calculations and modelling on components or subsystems of compressors.
- Identify key decisions and devise/execute a test plan to answer knowledge gaps.
- Ensure the implementation of new concepts as part of new product development projects.
- Acquire the relevant knowledge from internal and external stakeholders
- Follow up the technology evolution for specific compressor types and subsystems.
More specifically:
- Calculation and design of the complete compressor and different components
- Develop mathematical models, simulations and calculation tools for our products, validation & optimization of the calculation tools with lab test results and field data.
- Translate functional specifications into design parameters and knowledge gaps.
- Be part of an engineering team, participate in product development and technology projects.
- Take lead and actively participate in continuous product improvements through implementation of acquired and validated knowledge.
- Close follow-up of prototype assembly and testing
- Formulate functional hypotheses and verification by suitable tests
- Taking on an expert role and formulate solutions. Reporting the working method, results, conclusions and recommendations
- Assist in design and technical review, support on key decision making
