What your job as a Database Administrator will look like
You will be concentrating on the various elements that make up the maintenance of the data platform such as storage and capacity planning, backups and monitoring, security settings and enhancements, database upgrades and migrations, database tuning and database optimisations, etc. (Azure) SQL Server databases encompass a wide range of responsibilities!
Being on-call or intervening outside office hours is only required occasionally. Project-based or long-term assignments, all options are on the table. Depending on the assignment, you may be working on your own or in a team, taking care of the project management yourself or not. Participating in pre-sales is also a possibility. The trump cards of this job are variety and continuous learning through experience.
But don’t worry.
The roles within assignments and their complexity will be tailored to you: sufficiently challenging for learning and not over your head. If you demonstrate a keenness to learn, independence and initiative, you will be absolutely fine. Don’t forget that you have a team of helpful Koherians standing behind you who will be happy to help you and facilitate your development.
