Within the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies (THER) and the Religions, Spiritualities, Cultures, Societies Research Institute (RSCS), Social Sciences and Humanities Sector, this position will include the following teaching, research and community service duties:
You will primarily teach in the field of religious studies: among other topics, you will be able to teach courses on Hinduism and Buddhism. Depending on your expertise and teaching approaches, you will also teach courses on contemporary forms of religion in Asia. You will teach across the various degree programs offered by the faculty. You will also supervise master’s theses.
You will develop your research activities, including the coordination of research programs, in the field of religious studies, with a particular focus on at least one Asian religion (South and Himalayan Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia), from a perspective clearly grounded in the social sciences. Your research and work will demonstrate both a deep historical understanding of the religious traditions studied and a mastery of social science methods to examine their contemporary forms through original and relevant perspectives, capable of initiating or participating in collaborative projects both internally and internationally. You will supervise doctoral dissertations.
Once tenured, you will carry out various service activities and responsibilities within the institution, such as being a member of a programme committee or examination committee, or having management responsibilities within the faculty or research institute.
You will also contribute to serving society, particularly in the economic, social, cultural or development cooperation fields. Finally, you will ensure, through research and teaching activities, the university’s international visibility.
