MAIN JOB OBJECTIVE

This role involves overseeing, coordinating, and optimizing all airport ramp operations, including flight scheduling, staff management, safety, procedures, special cargo handling, and stakeholder relations, while ensuring compliance, operational performance, and team engagement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role include:

Flight Schedule Management:
Monitor and follow up on flight schedules and operational planning to ensure efficient and timely operations.
Documentation & Procedures:
Prepare, maintain, and update service-level agreements (SLA), standard operating procedures (SOP), local operating procedures (LOP), and other relevant documentation.
Special Cargo Handling:
Oversee and calculate the requirements for handling special cargo, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and airline regulations.
Special Loads & Oversized Cargo:
Follow up on special loads and perform oversized cargo calculations to ensure secure and optimized cargo loading.
Client Communication:
Regularly initiate and/or participate in review meetings with clients to align on needs, expectations, and warehouse performance.
Team Direction & Supervision:
Direct and support ramp coordinators and ramp teams in supervising and optimizing daily operations. Ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and timeliness in all ramp activities.
Operational Guidelines:
Develop, implement, and monitor work procedures and operational guidelines to ensure effectiveness and excellence across all managed activities.
Team Leadership & People Management:
Lead and oversee the operational team with a strong focus on coaching, motivating, and managing people effectively.
Employee Engagement:
Actively engage with team members to foster a positive work environment and maintain high motivation levels.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure the highest standards of health and safety are consistently maintained across all operational activities.
Stakeholder Relations:
Maintain and nurture strong relationships with external stakeholders including the airport authority, customs, and other relevant institutions.
Performance Monitoring & KPI Analysis:
Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as costs, budgets, staffing metrics (e.g., efficiency, absenteeism), volumes, and productivity. Analyse performance data to support continuous operational improvement.
Loading Process Oversight:
Supervise the loading process, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and airline-specific procedures.
Cross-Department Communication:
Ensure effective and clear communication with all other departments within WFS Belgium to promote collaboration and operational alignment.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Not applicable / No specific educational requirement.
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in warehouse management and air freight logistics.
Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
