About the Modernization & Rationalization (MoRa) Team
Telenet has a large application landscape. Many applications were built for a world that no longer exists. The Modernization and Rationalization (MoRa) team is the answer to modernize what is worth keeping and retire what is not — and we are integrating AI into that work every day. Our team is part of the Software Factory cluster in the Software and Architecture Tribe. MoRa drives Telenet’s transition from legacy on-prem applications to cloud-native architectures by:
- Supporting teams to adopt cloud-native and scalable architectures.
- Contributing to Telenet’s software engineering standards and reusable templates, in close cooperation with architecture and platform engineering teams to make these available across Telenet.
- Providing technical guidance on modernization best practices, while keeping technical debt at sustainable levels.
As AI reshapes how software is built and operated, MoRa is at the forefront of integrating AI-driven practices into our modernization efforts. From intelligent code analysis and automated refactoring to AI-assisted solution designs.
Your role as Tech Lead
We are looking for a Tech Lead to join the MoRa team in our ambitious technical direction. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across Telenet’s software-owning teams, guiding them through complex modernization journeys while embedding AI capabilities into the development cycle.
You will work in close collaboration with architects, business analysts, vendors, and product owners. Always within Telenet’s architectural guardrails, while actively helping to shape them.
- You take the lead in shaping smart, future-proof tech solutions that truly make an impact on our business.
- You guide teams within Telenet’s architecture, helping them move forward while also improving how we work.
- You create clear software blueprints that inspire teams and speed up high-quality development.
- You work closely with Product Owners and architects to define a strong, forward-looking tech roadmap, aligned with modernization goals.
- You bring AI into everyday development, making work smarter through automation and better insights. You will lead the adoption of AI in our modernization toolchain — including AI-assisted code analysis, automated refactoring recommendations, and intelligent technical debt prioritization.
- You raise the bar on quality by driving best practices in security, performance, and code excellence.
You empower teams to grow, sharing your knowledge through coaching, workshops, and hands-on support.
Your profile as Tech Lead
- Master’s degree (or equivalent through experience). 10+ years of software engineering experience, of which 3+ in a hands-on technical leadership role.
- Passionate about technology and continuously up-to-date with the latest evolutions in software modernization, cloud, and AI.
- Hands-on knowledge of AI/ML concepts and practical experience applying AI tools in software engineering contexts (e.g., agentic coding, LLM-based tooling, AI-assisted testing or refactoring).
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and modernization patterns (strangler fig, re-platforming, containerization, microservices).
- Knowledge of GCP (preferred) or comparable hyperscaler, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI is a plus), security, observability, databases, and networking.
- Deep familiarity with technical debt management strategies and code quality practices.
- Ability to drive technical innovation, align it with business needs, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior management and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and inspire cross-functional teams.
A team player who can fluently communicate in English.
