About this role
The Software Category Manager is part of IT Procurement, within ASML's Indirect Procurement organization. The role is responsible for managing a portfolio of software suppliers and supporting the sourcing and renewal of software contracts across ASML.
A key aspect of the role is to engage stakeholders early in the software lifecycle, well before contract expirations or sourcing events, to define requirements, evaluate commercial options, assess supplier strategies, and maximize ASML's options.
The position requires close collaboration with IT leadership, enterprise architects, software asset management, legal, finance, and business stakeholders. The successful candidate will build strong internal networks and interact with suppliers at tactical and strategic levels.
Responsibilities
Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with IT and business stakeholders to understand software demand, technology roadmaps, and upcoming sourcing requirements.
Proactively identify future software renewals and sourcing opportunities, ensuring procurement is engaged early enough to shape requirements, evaluate alternatives and optimize commercial outcomes.
Facilitate cross-functional decision making by bringing together stakeholders from IT, Legal, Finance, Security, Architecture and Software Asset Management.
Software Category & Supplier Management
Manage a portfolio of software suppliers and support the development and execution of software category strategies.
Maintain a deep understanding of supplier commercial models, licensing approaches, market developments, and competitive alternatives.
Establish governance structures and escalation paths with key suppliers to ensure effective collaboration and issue resolution.
Negotiation & Contract Management
Lead commercial negotiations for software renewals, new purchases, and contract amendments.
Develop negotiation strategies based on market intelligence, benchmarking data, supplier positioning, and business requirements.
Drive competitive sourcing processes where appropriate to create leverage and improve commercial outcomes.
Negotiate contract terms covering pricing, licensing metrics, service levels, compliance, risk allocation, and future scalability.
Identify and manage commercial, contractual and supply risks throughout the contract lifecycle.
Market Intelligence & Data Analysis
Leverage internal spend data, contract information, and external market intelligence to identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier consolidation, and value creation.
Analyze software consumption trends, upcoming renewals, and licensing positions to proactively inform sourcing decisions.
Business Partnering & Advisory
Provide expert sourcing and supplier-related advice to internal stakeholders.
Support software investment decisions by assessing commercial implications, supplier risks, and alternative sourcing options.
Contribute to the development of long-term software sourcing strategies that support ASML's technology objectives.
Ethics & Compliance
Ensure all sourcing activities comply with ASML policies, procurement standards, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Promote ethical business conduct and identify compliance risks related to software procurement, licensing, and supplier management.

Your skills
Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Economics, IT, Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or category management.
Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing software, SaaS, and enterprise technology contracts.
Strong commercial acumen and experience leading supplier negotiations with global technology vendors.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge requirements constructively.
Experience working in complex, international and matrix organizations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate market intelligence and internal data into sourcing strategies.
