About the Project
Holcim Belgium is leading the GO4ZERO project, an ambitious initiative aimed at significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and accelerating the transition towards more sustainable construction.
As part of this strategic project, Holcim Belgium is developing a large-scale Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) value chain, covering:
CO₂ capture
Transmission & transport
Terminal operations
Permanent storage
To strengthen the GO4ZERO project team, we are looking for a Senior CCS Project Engineer to drive the technical aspects of the project, with a strong focus on oxyfuel testing, CO₂ capture, Carbon Processing Unit (CPU) integration, and associated infrastructure.
As Senior CCS Project Engineer, you will support the technical development and implementation of the CCS track within the GO4ZERO project.
You will play a key role in:
Defining technical requirements
Assessing implementation scenarios
Coordinating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Ensuring proper integration of CCS equipment and infrastructure
You will work closely with internal experts, external partners, and international stakeholders. This role reports to the CCS Project Manager.
Equipment & Testing: Define and plan required equipment for oxyfuel testing, including equipment listing, technical specifications, and needs coordination.
Scenario Planning: Develop and assess technical implementation scenarios for 2029 equipment horizon.
Technical Analysis: Analyze constraints including soil conditions, utilities, steel structures, foundations, and infrastructure requirements.
Project Estimation: Compile technical data, assess feasibility requirements, and support cost estimation across various project scenarios.
System Integration: Collaborate on the design and integration of the Carbon Processing Unit (CPU).
Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with mechanical, process, instrumentation, environmental, and corporate engineering teams.
Engineering Oversight: Oversee technical topics related to piping design, environmental permitting, water treatment stations, and instrumentation specs.
Domain Expertise: Provide expert input on oxy-combustion processes, CCS technologies, and water treatment systems.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical interface with international suppliers, engineering partners, and external stakeholders.
Financial & Risk Support: Assist with budget estimation, CAPEX planning, and technical risk assessments.
Education: Engineering degree in Process, Mechanical, Chemical, Thermal Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience: Proven track record in complex industrial projects, ideally within energy, cement, chemical, infrastructure, or decarbonisation sectors.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of carbon capture technologies, oxy-combustion, and related industrial processes.
Execution Skills: Hands-on experience with technical analysis, equipment specifications, vendor management, and cross-functional team leadership.
Mindset: Ability to challenge technical constraints while maintaining a practical, project-driven mindset.
Financial Acumen: Practical exposure to budget estimation and CAPEX planning.
Languages: Strong communication skills in French and technical English.
Environment: Comfortable operating in an international, multi-stakeholder setting.
High-Impact Project: Direct contribution to one of the most ambitious decarbonisation initiatives in the European cement industry.
Pioneering Technology: Work alongside top-tier technology partners to build a cutting-edge CCS value chain.
Flexible Working Models: Open to Employee (CDI) or Consultant/Freelance setups, offering a competitive package tailored to your status.
Inclusive Culture: Holcim Belgium values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity, offering a respectful working environment where everyone can thrive.
