The Primary Healthcare Coalition (PHCC) is a global, inclusive advocacy and action platform dedicated to advancing integrated, people-centered primary healthcare. PHCC brings together civil society, governments, multilateral organizations, academia, private sector actors, and community-based organizations to strengthen collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective advocacy for resilient primary healthcare systems.
About The Role
PHCC is seeking motivated and organized Program Associates (Student Worker / Intern) to provide coordination, administrative, and programmatic support across coalition activities.While the Associates will contribute to the day-to-day coordination and delivery of PHCC activities, each Associate will have a distinct area of focus and corresponding responsibilities. The two areas of focus are:
- Membership Associate: Support PHCC’s membership strategy, including member outreach, onboarding, engagement, relationship management, and maintenance of membership systems and records.
- Fundraising Associate: Support PHCC’s fundraising and resource mobilization efforts, including donor and partner research, funding opportunity identification, proposal development, and maintenance of fundraising pipelines and materials.
Both Associates will also support PHCC activities related to events, communications, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, and reporting, as needed.
These positions are well suited to current students, early-career professionals, and recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in global health coordination, coalition building, membership engagement, and/or nonprofit fundraising.
The position may be undertaken as either:
- An unpaid internship, with or without academic credit; or
- A volunteer student worker position.
The Student Worker/Intern will work under the supervision of senior PHCC staff. A specific scope of work will be developed and agreed upon with the selected candidate, taking into account their academic programme, learning objectives, availability, and professional goals.
Responsibilities
Coalition Coordination & Administrative Support
- Support day-to-day coordination of PHCC activities under guidance from senior staff
- Assist with maintaining internal communication channels, shared resources, documentation, and action trackers.
- Support the organization of coalition meetings and working groups, including scheduling, agenda preparation, note-taking, and follow-up actions.
- Assist with administrative aspects of coalition governance processes, including tracking participation and supporting inclusive member representation.
Membership & Engagement — Membership Associate
- Support implementation of PHCC’s membership strategy and contribute to membership growth and retention.
- Conduct outreach to prospective members and support the onboarding of new coalition members.
- Maintain and update membership directories, profiles, onboarding materials, engagement trackers, and CRM or database systems.
- Support regular communication and engagement with members, including gathering updates, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and following up on member needs.
- Track membership engagement and help identify opportunities to strengthen member participation and value.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization — Fundraising Associate
- Support implementation of PHCC’s fundraising and resource mobilization strategy.
- Research and identify potential donors, funding opportunities, foundations, and strategic partners aligned with PHCC priorities.
- Maintain fundraising pipelines, donor databases, and tracking systems.
- Support the development and editing of funding proposals, concept notes, presentations, budgets, and other fundraising materials.
- Assist with donor and partner communications, meeting preparation, follow-up, and relationship management.
- Monitor relevant funding trends and opportunities and share findings with the PHCC team.
Events & Advocacy Activities
- Support planning and delivery of webinars, workshops, and advocacy-related events
- Assist with speaker coordination, event materials, logistics, and post-event follow-up
- Help compile participant lists, summaries, and feedback
Communications & Content Support
- Assist with drafting, editing, and formatting meeting summaries, newsletters, briefs, and updates
- Support digital communications and visibility efforts
- Help maintain shared communications assets, membership profile and contact lists
Monitoring, Learning & Reporting Support
- Assist with tracking activities and participation against agreed workplans
- Support preparation of internal updates and simple reports
- Help maintain organized documentation and knowledge resources
Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
- Support relationship management with coalition members, donors, partners, and external stakeholders through coordination, communication, and follow-up.
- Assist with facilitating collaboration across stakeholders by supporting working groups, information sharing, and coordination processes.
- Help compile and synthesize member and stakeholder inputs to inform coalition planning and activities.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in global health, public health, international relations, development studies, political science, or a related field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a support role , collaborating with senior staff and diverse stakeholders
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a remote or hybrid environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Able to balance academic commitments with part-time work
- Interest in global health, primary healthcare, advocacy, or health systems strengthening
- Prior coursework, volunteer experience, or student leadership experience in global health, development, advocacy, or nonprofit settings is an asset
