Position

You will actively work on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis in the field of international economics. This PhD project is focused on geopolitical trends in international economics. It includes estimation of the effect of trade sanctions on the “bystander” countries that are neither targets of these sanctions nor members of the sanctioning coalition. It also includes an empirical exploration of the geographical borders of the export markets and their implications for international spillovers of monetary policy. Finally, it aims to use a quantitative model of currency choice to analyze how far away the US dollar is from losing its dominance in the international trade markets. The development of alternative topics within international economics is actively encouraged.
-
You will draw up a research plan and corresponding research methods in consultation with your supervisor and undertake the necessary administration for a smooth PhD process.
-
You will conduct the research efficiently and to an appropriate standard, possibly abroad, and compete for funding for general or specific costs.

You will report progress to your supervisor and committees, and present your research at scientific conferences.

-
In addition to project-based research, you will also be responsible for a limited range of support tasks related to teaching within the Department of Economics.
Profile
-
You hold a master degree in economics or in another relevant discipline given the sufficient background. Candidates who have not yet obtained their degree, need to be able to present their diploma by the time of appointment.
