An international manufacturing business is looking for an Accounting Specialist to take ownership of the Belgian finance function, working closely with English-speaking colleagues across the UK, Europe and the US.
This is a broad, hands-on position offering genuine autonomy. Rather than being responsible for one part of the process, you'll oversee the day-to-day accounting activities for Belgium and act as a key contact for both local operations and international finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Processing accounting transactions and maintaining accurate financial records
- Preparing month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Managing customer invoicing and supporting Accounts Receivable queries
- Processing supplier invoices and ensuring correct VAT treatment
- Supporting Belgian VAT filings and statutory compliance
- Assisting with internal and external audits
- Providing payroll administration support where required
- Working closely with UK and US finance colleagues on reporting and month-end activities
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls
- Supporting operational teams and acting as a key finance contact locally
What we're looking for
- 3-6 years' experience within accounting, bookkeeping or finance operations
- Formal accounting qualification preferred
- ERP system experience
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Good knowledge of Belgian accounting principles and VAT
- Fluent Dutch and English
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a broad range of responsibilities
