Function description
The DEV Engineer commits to help the team to deliver a product at the end of each sprint, surpassing his/her own specific knowledge domain in order to collaborate with the team members. The focus is on the completion of the sprint backlog, containing all elements that the team must deliver and of which the sequence has been determined by the Product Owner based on the added value for the (internal or external) client.
The DEV Engineer adheres to the scrum values (focussed, committed, open, respectful, and courageous) and is able to closely collaborate with the team members. Knowledge sharing, open communication, continuous learning and commitment to deliver added value are key.
1. Technical Analysis & Development
Perform end-to-end technical analyses (input/output/processing) for Mainframe-based applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
Develop, maintain, and optimize Mainframe applications (Cobol, DB2, IMS, GTMS, JCL, EdZ) with a focus on Term Deposit systems .
Design and implement technical solutions for RUN & Change activities , ensuring stability, performance, and compliance.
Troubleshoot and resolve Mainframe-related incidents , collaborating with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Infrastructure, Business).
Contribute to middleware integration (MQ, zOS Connect, SOAP) to ensure seamless communication between Mainframe and modern systems.
2. Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration
Collaboration with Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Term Deposit applications and ensuring knowledge retention as SME will leave the bank in 2027.
Document technical processes, and best practices to support long-term knowledge management .
Work closely on RUN & Change activities , ensuring smooth transitions and minimal operational risk.
Participate in Agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, retrospectives) to align technical delivery with business priorities.
Foster a collaborative culture within the squad, promoting continuous improvement in Mainframe development practices
Required Experience
At least 5 years of relevant experience
Technical Experience
Mandatory
knowledge of common development languages used in the domain
excellent understanding of architecture (hardware, OS, networking, databases, middleware)
knowledge of methods, standards and security procedures as well as development tools
