Kahani: Indian Flavours, Belgian Ingredients is an innovative culinary destination in the heart of Hasselt, that celebrates the fusion of Indian traditions with local Belgian produce. Inspired by authentic recipes and modern techniques, we take pride in offering a dining experience that is both rooted in heritage and creatively unique.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position in Hasselt, for a Chef specializing in Indian and/or Asian cuisine. The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing authentic Indian dishes while incorporating local Belgian ingredients to create fusion-inspired offerings. Additional duties include overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring quality standards, managing inventory, and collaborating with the team to develop innovative menu items. The Chef will also supervise kitchen staff and uphold food safety and hygiene regulations.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Indian and Asian culinary techniques, and a strong knowledge of traditional recipes and spices
- Atleast 5+ years experience in menu development, fusion cooking, and the creative incorporation of diverse ingredients. Knowledge of European meat cuts, cheese and local seasonal vegetables will be highly appreciated. (If you don't have experience in the Indian Kitchen you have to be registered with the VDAB and do 3-6 months of paid training with us).
- Expertise in kitchen management, food safety, hygiene standards, and inventory control
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment
- A formal culinary education or equivalent professional experience in Indian and/or Asian cuisine
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages, including French or Dutch, is a plus.
- Permanent Residence in Belgium or another EU country is a must. No work visa will be applied.
- Candidate must be willing to move to Hasselt.
Salary will depend on the candidate's experience, market-conform based on Belgian salary scale PC 302. NO AGENTS PLEASE.
