An international consultancy business supporting clients affiliated with the chemical industry are looking to appoint a Finance Controller for its Brussels based office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional seeking a varied position within an international and collaborative environment. The role combines financial control, accounting oversight and operational support, with exposure to both corporate and consortium-based activities.
Role Requirements
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance activities for the Belgium operation while supporting wider international finance processes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing monthly accounting activities and financial controls
- Overseeing month-end close processes and reporting
- Preparing and reviewing Belgian VAT returns and related compliance requirements
- Ensuring accuracy across accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
- Supporting budgeting, reporting and financial planning activities
- Acting as a key contact for external accountants and auditors
- Providing finance support to internal project managers and operational teams
- Supervising and mentoring a Finance Coordinator
- Supporting the smooth operational running of the Brussels office
- Contributing to process improvements and quality standards across the business
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Finance Controller, Financial Controller, Accounting Manager or Finance Manager
- Strong knowledge of Belgian VAT and general accounting principles
- Experience managing month-end and financial reporting processes
- Confidence working within an international or consultancy-led environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Accounting qualification or equivalent practical experience
