As a Modeling & Control Engineer, you will be responsible for developing simulation models of buildings and industrial sites to predict energy usage and thermal behavior. Beyond simulation, you’ll design and implement optimization logic to control energy-consuming devices in real time, balancing efficiency, cost, comfort, and sustainability. You will also interface directly with devices—enabling intelligent, bidirectional control through software.
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Developing simulation models to capture thermal and electrical behavior in buildings and industrial environments.
- Implementing forecasting models using machine learning to predict energy usage, temperature trends, and system loads.
- Designing and deploying optimization algorithms (e.g., linear programming, reinforcement learning) for smart scheduling and device control.
- Building software interfaces to connect and control physical devices (e.g. HVAC systems, inverters, batteries) using Python or C++.
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team to ensure simulations and control strategies are grounded in real-world system constraints.
