Job description
Wanna give your training a strong societal turn ?
We are currently looking for a intern to work on the communication of research results for the Chemical and Physical Health Risks department.
Our research unit investigates the effects of exposure to chemical, physical, and non-infectious biological environmental factors on human health.
Our research focuses on air pollution, biodiversity, radiation, chemical substances, pesticides, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, urbanization, green spaces, and climate. We study both the potential health risks and the potential health benefits associated with these environmental factors.
Particular attention is paid to socioeconomic determinants that influence the relationship between the environment and health, as well as to vulnerable populations such as children, older adults, and individuals with underlying health conditions.
Through independent, evidence-based scientific expertise, our unit supports public authorities in the fields of public health, environment, urban planning, and rural development in the design and implementation of public health and environmental policies.
The internship focuses on the use of silicone wristbands as a tool for assessing individual exposure to pesticides.
Silicone wristbands are an innovative passive sampling tool that can be used to assess human exposure to chemical substances as an alternative to blood and urine sampling. Easy to use, they represent a promising approach for exposure assessment in population-based epidemiological studies.
Within this project, wristbands have been collected from both an occupational study group (farmers) and participants from the general population. During the wearing period, participants also completed a questionnaire and kept a diary.
