By ensuring the continuous operation of machines essential to our activities, Amazon's RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) team plays a fundamental role in our operations. As an RME Technician, you will maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while adhering to health and safety best practices. You will contribute to keeping your colleagues safe and preventing machine downtime. Our RME Technicians improve the availability and quality of our equipment and work to optimise our operational environment.
Key job responsibilities
Ensure Safety and Compliance
- Promote health and safety best practices across all maintenance activities, ensuring full compliance with standards and regulations
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols for maintenance work
Deliver Excellence in Preventive Maintenance
- Execute comprehensive planned preventive maintenance programmes on diverse automated equipment: conveyors, robots, sorting and packaging systems
- Use Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track, schedule and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and external contractors to optimise maintenance procedures
Respond Quickly and Resolve Complex Issues
- Provide rapid response to equipment breakdowns with clear communication to operational teams
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems
- Use diagnostic tools and technical documentation to efficiently identify root causes
Master Automation Technologies
- Maintain and configure sophisticated automation systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and field networks
- Service and calibrate barcode scanners, print-and-apply systems and sorting equipment
Contribute to Continuous Improvement
- Analyse equipment performance data to identify improvement opportunities
- Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives through equipment optimisation
- Share technical knowledge and mentor junior technicians
Working Hours:This role operates in a 24/7 environment requiring flexibility with variable schedules, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
