Amaris Consulting is looking for an Automation Project Engineer to support the digital transformation of production environments in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industry. In this role, you will implement automation solutions that connect manufacturing equipment to IT systems, ensuring reliable data integration, efficient processes, and full compliance with pharmaceutical quality and validation standards.
Your role
As an Automation Project Engineer, you will join a specialized automation team and collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams. You will mainly operate within the OT layers (ISA-95 levels 1–3) and play a key role in bridging Operational Technology (OT) and IT systems.
Your responsibilities
Manage the automation scope within technical project teams
Design and implement OT/IT automation solutions
Configure and integrate automated and computerized systems
Support the selection and implementation of hardware and software
Develop, execute, and review commissioning and validation protocols
Document test plans, reports, and validation activities for GxP systems
Troubleshoot automation systems and perform root cause analyses
Support deviations, CAPAs, and investigations
Collaborate with project leads and stakeholders to deliver successful projects
Provide technical support for live systems (including weekend on-call support from 9:00 to 17:00)
Your profile
4+ years of experience with OT or IT systems in a GxP environment
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Electronics/ICT) or similar
Experience with industrial automation and system integration
Knowledge of computer networking and ISA-95 architecture
Understanding of GxP regulations and data integrity principles (e.g., ALCOA, cGMP Annex 11)
Basic knowledge of scripting or databases (PowerShell, CMD, SQL)
Experience with PLC-controlled automation systems
Experience with monitoring platforms such as AVEVA PI
Knowledge of industrial networking (switches, firewalls) and IT infrastructure such as Active Directory
Strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
Languages
Fluent English
Dutch is a strong plus
