YOUR TASKS
- 100% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
- You will design and optimize soft bioelectronic devices comprising passive electrodes and active organic bioelectronic components, such as internal ion-gated organic electrochemical transistors (IGTs), including their readout circuits.
- You will collaborate closely with other MSc students, PhD and postdoctoral researchers toward the integration of these components in neural interfaces.
- You will contribute to publications, dissemination activities, and collaborative work packages within the UPSIDE project (Focused Ultrasound Personalized Therapy for the Treatment of Depression: EU call EIC Pathfinder challenge 'Tools to measure and stimulate activity in brain tissue') and FWO Odysseus project (Soft integrated ion-based circuits for diagnostics and closed-loop neurological interventions).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a Master’s degree or a thesis-based doctorate in a relevant field of science or engineering
- You have hands-on experience in fabrication and micro/nanofabrication processes relevant to soft electronics, sensors, or biointerfaces.
- You have experience in materials science and materials characterization.
- You possess coding skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or similar) and are experienced in writing scientific publications and research proposals.
- You demonstrate excellent communication skills, proficiency in written and spoken English, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
- You are curious, critical, and creative, with strong problem-solving abilities and an interest in translational neurotechnology.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period from 01.10.2026 to 31.12.2026.
- Your contract will start on 01.10.2026 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
