Seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer / COBOL Modernization Specialist to support enterprise payment modernization initiatives. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in Java development, legacy COBOL applications, and the payments domain.
You will analyze existing COBOL systems, translate business logic into modern Java solutions, and work closely with business stakeholders and development teams to deliver high-quality payment processing applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand existing COBOL applications and business logic.
- Translate legacy COBOL functionality into Java-based applications and microservices.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications using modern frameworks.
- Prepare functional and technical specifications from legacy systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to define requirements.
- Support modernization and migration of mainframe applications.
- Develop REST APIs and integration services.
- Ensure application quality through unit testing, code reviews, and best development practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and technical design discussions.
Required Skills & QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of software development experience.
- Strong experience in Java development.
- Experience working with COBOL/Mainframe applications.
- Experience in legacy system modernization projects.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
