MISSION
Thales Belgium (Herstal site) is a world leader in precision guided rocket system for helicopters and jet aircraft. In order to meet its ambitious production and product development roadmap, Thales wants to reinforce its technical team and is looking for an engineer who wants to develop himself as a Systems Engineer.
As an integration engineer, you coordinate and validate subsystems integration on customer platforms, ensuring system compliance and performance throughout deployment and operational phases.
You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Model-Based Design methods and tools in a high-tech environment. Your role will require you to support multiple projects, necessitating strong planning and organizational skills. Through these initiatives, you will actively collaborate to define and enhance the performance of rocket systems integrated on customer’s platforms, utilizing simulations and live demonstrations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and improve both new and existing Algorithms and Control Laws design for Guidance, Navigation, Flight Controls and Aiming System

Test and assess performances of Algorithms using analytical methods and Monte-Carlo simulations

Perform Algorithms validation and verification (V&V) for any updates and/or new designs

Support integration of Algorithms into hardware using code generation and Hardware-in-the-loop test rig

Improve C code generated and support embedded team to integrate algorithms into devices
-
Participate to trials (firing campaigns) and process flight test data
-
Maintain digital twin for our current and in-development products
-
Model physical behaviors of new concepts and perform simulations to orient development and answer key technical decisions

Interact with Bid & Project teams to prepare technical offers and answer customer requests
-
Interact with Operations and Quality teams to optimize calibration procedures and treat acceptance test deviations

Support integration, verification, validation, and qualification (IVVQ) efforts focusing on system performance and reliability
-
Support customer integration of ballistic prediction algorithms on end-user platforms through targeted optimization (e.g., execution time), facilitating regular technical exchanges to ensure optimal implementation and performance of embedded hardware solutions

Accompany customers throughout firing campaigns by overseeing data collection and analysis, iteratively tuning algorithms to achieve and validate performance targets and system accuracy in real-world conditions
PROFILE

Master’s Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Mathematics, Physics or Electronics

3 years of relevant experience in an engineering department
TECHNICAL SKILLS

Competent in mathematics and statistics

Comfortable handling complex problems and processing large volumes of data

Analytical mindset with a reputation for thoroughness and attention to detail

Proficient in MATLAB and Simulink for algorithm development and simulation

Effective communicator with strong pedagogical skills to simplify and explain complex concepts

Understanding of real-time algorithm embedding challenges in microcontrollers

Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong initiative-taking spirit

Enthusiastic about staying up-to-date with the latest innovation trends

Experienced in working within Agile development environments

Interest in high-tech sensors (optical, magnetic) considered a plus

Ability to develop custom tools using C/C++ and Python scripting appreciated
ADDITIONAL ASSETS

Familiarity with relevant standards and certifications in aerospace, defense or automotive industries (DO-178, ARP4754, ISO26262)
