Team Leader Logistics Control Tower
- Automotive Business Belgium
The Team Leader Logistics Control Tower is responsible for leading and managing the EDC Logistics Control Tower organization, including Customer Service and Transport Operations. The role ensures the efficient execution of logistics activities, customer service excellence, transportation operations, and order fulfillment while supporting the overall EMEA Control Tower strategy, standards, and performance objectives.
As the operational leader for the EDC team, the Team Leader Logistics Control Tower drives operational performance, supports continuous improvement initiatives, manages stakeholder relationships, and ensures alignment between local priorities and EMEA strategic objectives. The role also serves as deputy support for the Head of Control Tower EMEA and acts as the primary escalation point for operational issues.
Key responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Provide disciplinary and functional leadership to employees within the EDC Logistics Control Tower organization.
- Lead workforce planning, succession planning, recruitment support, onboarding, and employee development activities.
- Conduct performance reviews, target setting, coaching sessions, and development discussions.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and coordinate a team of seven employees within the EDC organization.
- Support employee engagement and talent development initiatives.
Logistics & Operational Management
- Coordinate daily logistics operations, customer service activities, and transport operations.
- Ensure achievement of service levels, on-time delivery targets, and operational KPIs.
- Manage escalations, critical deliveries, customer issues, and operational exceptions.
- Coordinate transportation optimization, shipment consolidation, and special transport requirements.
- Ensure effective prioritization and execution of customer orders in line with business requirements.
- Act as the primary escalation point for daily operational activities.
- Serve as operational deputy and relay for the Head of Control Tower EMEA.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions when performance deviations occur.
- Analyze operational trends and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive process standardization and automation initiatives across the EMEA Control Tower network.
- Support Lean, Business Excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate improvement projects and promote best practice sharing across teams and regions.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with SKF Vertevo policies, labor regulations, quality standards, health and safety requirements, customs regulations, and export control legislation.
- Ensure proper documentation and legally compliant execution of operational processes.
- Support audits and ensure adherence to governance and internal control requirements.
- Promote a safe and compliant working environment.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Tax, Customer Service teams, and Logistics Service Providers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration to resolve operational challenges and improve customer experience.
- Align local operational priorities with EMEA strategic objectives.
Project Management
- Lead national and international projects and cross-functional working groups.
- Define project plans, milestones, resources, risks, and implementation schedules.
- Support business transformation, change management, and operational excellence programs.
- Track project progress and ensure successful implementation of agreed actions.
Reporting & Business Support
- Provide regular reporting and operational updates to the Head of Control Tower EMEA.
- Review KPI performance, develop action plans, and monitor implementation progress.
- Ensure visibility of critical business issues and proposed mitigation actions.
- Support management decision-making through operational analysis and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent through experience.
- Proven experience in logistics, transportation, customer service, or supply chain operations.
- Experience in people management and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of logistics processes, transportation management, and customer service operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and logistics management systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
- Project management and coordination skills.
- Customer-focused with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees.
